In Brief: Countrywide's Servicing Through October Up 27%

servicing portfolio stood at $131 billion at Oct. 31, an increase of 27% over the same time last year. The portfolio had a weighted average coupon of 7.8%, up from 7.3% at the end of October 1994. "Countrywide's production performance in October was highlighted by fundings of $3.3 billion, our highest volume since March 1994," said Angelo R. Mozilo, vice chairman. The lender originated $2 billion in purchase mortgages, the sixth straight month that purchase activity met or exceeded that level. Servicing, a continuing growth area for Countrywide, exceeded $131 billion in October. Prepayments were $1.4 billion.
