The assumption increases the size of $1.6 billion-asset North Side's own department by 650%, to $65.6 million in assets. It also brings its policyholder base to more than 32,000. Savings bank life insurance, established in 1939, can only be offered by New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts state-chartered thrifts.
