Money Market Assets Declined Slightly for Week

Money market mutual fund assets fell 0.1% to $761.69 billion for the week ending Nov. 29, the Investment Company Institute reported.

The decline was fueled by losses in retail accounts.

Their assets decreased by $1.03 billion to end the week at $532.7 billion. Taxable retail funds fell by $967.5 million to $430.63 billion, while tax-free funds decreased by $67.4 million to $102.07 billion.

On the institutional side, assets rose by $363 million to $228 billion for the same period.

Taxable institutional funds rose by $568.4 million to $204.52 billion, while tax-free funds fell by $205.1 million to $24.47 billion.

The investment institute, based in Washington, tracks the assets of 974 money market funds.
