Card briefs: Orders Are Rolling In For Bull Smart Cards

VIENNA, Va. - CP8 Transac, a subsidiary of the Bull Group of France that manufactures smart cards, has received orders for nearly 4.5 million cards in the past two months, said Micro Card Technologies, the American unit of the French company.

Telekurs, a Swiss consortium of banks, has ordered three million cards for its national electronic purse rollout. Banksys, the association of Belgian banks, has placed an order for one million cards for the national rollout of its electronic purse project, Proton. Interpay, the association of Dutch banks, has ordered 300,000 cards for its national rollout.

Other countries actively utilizing the CP8 stored value card, called the CashCard 60, include Australia, Brazil, Nigeria, and Russia.

CP8 Transac also announced that it will provide 25,000 payment terminals for the Spanish national electronic cash program.
