Tennessee's First Union Adds Lending Muscle

NASHVILLE - First Union National Bank of Tennessee is expanding its mortgage operations statewide, the bank announced.

It will open a new lending office in Memphis in mid-1996, add nine loan officers to its existing office in Nashville, and bolster the marketing of mortgage services at its offices in Clarksville, Dickson, Decherd, Shelbyville, and Murfreesboro.

First Union said it would also explore the possibility of opening new lending offices in other metropolitan areas of Tennessee, including Knoxville and Chattanooga, in the near future.
