Card briefs: MasterCard to Donate $10,000 to Soccer Charity

PURCHASE, N.Y. - Complementing its 1998 World Cup sponsorship, MasterCard said it will donate more than $250,000 to SOS Children's Villages, a Fifa project.

Fifa, which runs the soccer championship, created Children's Villages as a way of assisting 200,000 children in 125 countries.

MasterCard has also donated $350,000 to charities since 1990 through the MasterCard Award, in which a donation to charity is made in the name of the most valuable player of each match.
