In brief: Home Loan Bank Sets $4.8M of Housing Aid

BOSTON - The Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston has approved $4.8 million of assistance for 30 housing projects in New England.

The assistance - $3.5 million of grants and $1.3 million of below market loans - is part of the Home Loan Bank's affordable housing program. The program is funded through earnings of the Home Loan Bank, which counts 425 mortgage lenders as its members.

The assistance is the second round of financing the Home Loan Bank has awarded this year. In July, the Home Loan Bank approved $6.9 million in grants and below market loans for housing projects in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
