Roundup: Bank of Boston Selling 2 Puerto Rico Branches

BOSTON - In a move to divest its operations in Puerto Rico, Bank of Boston Corp. is selling two of its retail branches in Puerto Rico for an undisclosed sum.

The bank said the operations, which began in 1983, employ 55.

Bank of Boston is selling its Bayamon branch and "certain deposits" to Puerto Rico-based Roig Commercial Bank. The Carolina, P.R., branch and "certain deposits" are going to Oriental Bank and Trust, also of Puerto Rico.

Bank of Boston is also planning to sell a commercial loan portfolio, according to a spokesman.
