Short Takes: Money Fund Management Shifts to Morgan Guaranty

Managers Funds LP has shifted the management of its Managers Money Market Fund to Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. of New York.

Earlier this month, the Norwalk, Conn.-based fund company pooled its $10 million-asset money market portfolio into an existing fund managed by Morgan Guaranty.

The arrangement, known as hub and spoke, is administered by Signature Financial, Boston. It allows Managers Funds to share the cost of managing the fund with Morgan Guaranty's much larger $3 billion-asset money market portfolio.

Peter M. Lebovitz, director of marketing for Managers Funds, said the company expects to shave between 75 and 100 basis points off the funds expense ratio.
