Swaps Group Gets Chief Executive

NEW YORK - After searching for nearly seven months, the International Swaps and Derivatives Association said it has appointed Carolyn H. Jackson executive director.

Ms. Jackson, first vice president and manager of the derivatives products group at Banque Indosuez in New York, will take over the top job in the organization March 2.

Ms. Jackson replaces Frederick R. Medero, who resigned in late July after a year in the job.

Robert J. Schwartz, executive vice president and deputy treasurer of Republic New York Corp., has served as interim head of the organization.

"Carolyn's depth of experience in financial risk management, leadership capabilities and prominence in the industry's affairs will enable her to make a major contribution to ISDA's global mission," said trade group chairman Gay Evans, a managing director at Bankers Trust International.

Ms. Jackson began her career in 1982 at Chase Manhattan Corp., and was a member of that bank's original swaps team. She rose within the bank to become head of U.S. dollar derivatives trading worldwide.

After leaving Chase in 1987, she set up the New York office of BNP Capital Markets, where she managed U.S. dollar derivatives sales and trading operations.

She also had responsibility for Eurobond and private placement marketing.
