Roundup: Bankers Trust Hires Reserve Desk Chief

NEW YORK - Bankers Trust Co. said John K. Burgess will join its global investment management group as managing director and chief portfolio strategist for reserve investments.

As head of the reserve desk, Mr. Burgess will report to Douglas A. Skolnick, managing director and head of short-term fixed-income investments.

Bankers Trust manages $50 billion of short-term, fixed-income assets for corporations, governments, and pension funds worldwide.

The bank said Mr. Burgess gained his experience in liability and fixed- income risk management as a vice president at J.P. Morgan & Co. and Lehman Brothers Inc.

He also was treasurer of Banca Della Svizzera Italiana, a New York-based subsidiary of Swiss Bank Corp., where he was directly responsible for investment management.

Mr. Burgess earned a bachelor's degree in economics at Wesleyan University.

Bankers Trust manages $180 billion of assets.
