Mercantile Promotes 5 Corporate Executives

Mercantile Bancorp., St. Louis, has named W. Randolph Adams, John Q. Arnold, and John W. McClure as senior executive vice presidents, and Patrick Strickler and Richard H. Goldberg as executive vice presidents.

Mr. Adams, who also is chief financial officer, joined the corporation in 1991 as an executive vice president. He is also chairman and chief executive of its principal subsidiary, Mercantile Trust Co.

Mr. Arnold will continue as Mercantile's chief credit officer, a post he has held as executive vice president since joining the corporation in 1991. He is also senior executive vice president and chief credit officer at Mercantile Bank of St. Louis.

Mr. McClure oversees Mercantile's community bank system, which includes 37 institutions in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Iowa. He has managed those responsibilities for the corporation since 1989.

Mr. Strickler manages the corporation's strategic planning and communications activities, and is chairman of the Mercantile Foundation. He joined Mercantile in 1990 as senior vice president.

Mr. Goldberg is responsible for all of Mercantile's operations functions. He joined the corporation in 1993 as executive vice president at Mercantile Bank of St. Louis.
