Card Briefs: Charge Against Hunger Reaches Goal of $5M

NEW YORK - American Express reached the $5 million goal of its 1994 Charge Against Hunger campaign.

American Express donated 3 cents for every time its cards were used Nov. 1 through Dec. 31. Merchant partners such as K mart, United Colors of Benetton, and Restaurants Unlimited contributed another $400,000 through matching donations, direct contributions, or in-store events.

The $5.4 million is being distributed by Share Our Strength, one of the largest nonprofit hunger relief organizations in the United States, to grass-roots hunger relief agencies across the country.
