Ameritech Card Adding a 2d Rebate

Ameritech Corp., the Chicago-based midwestern Baby Bell, is offering a second cash-back feature on its cobranded Complete Card.

Issued by Household Bank, the Complete Card is one of the first credit cards to award a cash return on both purchases and phone calls. It delivers up to 1% cash back on credit card purchases with no limit.

A tiered-rebate system, similar to the Discover card, earns customers 1% on annual credit card charges equal to or more than $2,000, and 0.5% on annual charges of less than $2,000. Rebates accrue on an annual basis and are awarded in the form of a check payable directly to the cardholder at the end of the year.

The new feature is in addition to the 10% rebate already in place on long-distance calls. There are nearly one million Complete cardholders, and membership has grown by 30% annually since 1991.
