Roundup: Full Canada Licensing for Northern Trust Unit

CHICAGO - Northern Trust Company Canada, a subsidiary of Chicago- based Northern Trust Co., said it has received its Quebec trust license, which completes its licensing process in Canada.

The company said it is the first non-Canadian financial institution to have a wholly owned subsidiary trust company in Canada holding a federal trust charter.

The trust powers allow the company to act as trustee for Canadian clients. The company said it will join a limited number of trustees operating in Canada, whose numbers have decreased in recent years as a result of industry consolidation.
