Card Briefs: Smart Card Exhibits Seen Luring 66% More

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Cardtech/Securtech, the annual conference prospering with the booming interest in smart card technology, is anticipating a 66% increase in exhibit attendance at its April 10-13 session in Washington.

The meeting has outgrown its former Crystal City, Va., site, where it attracted 3,000 exhibit visitors and 1,100 seminar attendees last year. Projections for the 1995 meeting at the Washington Hilton Hotel are 5,000 for the exhibits and 1,200 for the seminars.

Cardtech/Securtech also said it has sold 200 exhibit booths, assuring an increase from the 125 companies that exhibited last year.

Edmund P. Jensen, president of Visa International, will give the keynote speech. H. Eugene Lockhart, president of MasterCard International, will speak at lunch April 12.

Others on the program include Tim Jones, head of National Westminster Bank's Mondex venture; Donald Gleason of Electronic Payment Services Inc.'s Smart Card Enterprise; Bruce Wilson, chief operating officer of Cybercash Inc; and Jack Radzikowski, executive director of electronic benefits transfer programs, U.S. Food and Nutrition Service.
