In Brief: Conference Circuit Plugged in to the Sector

The small business theme continues to generate interest on the conference tour, and March is no exception.

On March 2, the Business Banking Board, a Washington D.C.-based consultancy, is hosting a small business lending briefing for members at the Washington Ritz Carlton. Consultants from the firm will discuss how to ease the transformation to retail method of underwriting small business loans.

Cleveland-based Keycorp is sponsoring a small business conference in the Caucus Room of the Russell Senate Office Building on Wednesday, March 8.

Topics for the full-day session range from the current political environment in Washington D.C., to the various government loan programs.

Philip Lader, administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will brief the conference on the Clinton administration's agenda for small business.

On March 24, the trade group Robert Morris Associates will conduct a small business conference at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. The conference will cover the retail approach to small business lending and how to retain customers and build new business.

Other issues include competing with nonbank lenders and selling in a branch environment.
