Roundup: H.S. Aldrich, Ex-Chemical Vice Chairman, Dead at 87

NEW YORK - Hulbert "Huck" Stratton Aldrich, former president and director of New York Trust Co. and a former vice chairman and director of Chemical Bank, died Jan. 2, in South Kingstown, R.I. He was 87.

His wife, Amy W. Durfee Aldrich, died two weeks ago.

Mr. Aldrich joined New York Trust Co. in 1930, rising through the ranks to become president and director in 1952, a position he held until New York Trust's merger with Chemical Corn Exchange Bank in 1959. He became vice chairman and a director of the merged bank, which was renamed Chemical Bank New York Trust Co. When the bank's holding company was formed in 1969, Mr. Aldrich became vice chairman and a director of the holding company as well.

He retired from Chemical in 1972 and was elected to the board of Hill Samuel Group Ltd. of London and named chairman of its New York affiliate, Hill Samuel Inc., posts he held until 1979.

He is survived by two daughters, four grandchildren, and three great- grandchildren.
