Roundup: Morgan Counsel Joins N.Y. State Regulator

NEW YORK - The New York State Banking Department appointed Edmund P. Rogers 3rd deputy superintendent and counsel, the department said.

Mr. Rogers had been with J.P. Morgan & Co. Inc. since 1976, most recently as managing director and resident counsel.

Mr. Rogers served as Morgan's corporate secretary from 1984-86, and headed its legal department from 1986-92. Since 1992, he had been Morgan's senior bank regulatory counsel.

Mr. Rogers graduated cum laude from Yale College in 1965, and earned his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1968. He joined Davis Polk & Wardwell as an associate and later worked in that firm's Paris office.
