Roundup: Hibernia Completes Deal in Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS - Hibernia said it closed its previously announced purchase of American Bank.

This makes Hibernia the largest bank in St. Charles Parish, Hibernia said.

American's name will be changed to Hibernia when the banks' systems are converted later this year.

Hibernia ended 1994 with assets of $6.3 billion.

Assuming all pending mergers close, the bank will have $6.8 billion in assets and 162 banking locations serving 22 parishes and 55 cities in Louisiana.
