Reardon New President At Commerce of K.C.

Jay Reardon, executive vice president of Commerce Bank of Kansas City, has named president of the Missouri bank and a member of its board of directors.

As president, Mr. Reardon succeeds Jonathan M. Kemper, who has become chairman of the bank and retains the designation of chief executive. Mr. Kemper also is vice chairman of the bank's parent company, Commerce Bancshares.

John O. Brown has been elected vice chairman of the Kansas City bank and continues as its chief credit officer. Mr. Brown also assumes additional executive duties for Commerce Bancshares. Warren Weaver remains as vice chairman of the bank and the holding company.

Mr. Reardon joined the bank in 1990 as vice president in charge of the retail division. As president, he will have the senior responsibility for commercial and retail banking as well as other administrative assignments.

Mr. Kemper joined the bank in 1982. He has served in several capacities and was elected president in 1985. In addition to his responsibilities at the bank, Mr. Kemper will be in charge of the holding company's Kansas City/State of Kansas region.
