Raul Ponte Names Executives

Raul Ponte has joined Chemical Banking Corp., New York, as a managing director in the emerging markets capital markets division,

He will be in charge of market making and flow trading globally in all emerging markets fixed-income instruments, including Brady bonds, Eurobonds, and loans.

Mr. Ponte was formerly with J.P. Morgan Securities, where he was vice president and head market maker in emerging markets fixed-income products.

Chemical Commercial Mortgage Banking Corp. has added seven executives to the staff.

Roberta Paula Books has been named managing director of Chemical Commercial Mortgage Securities Corp. Formerly, she held positions as managing director, real estate finance, at Prudential Insurance and co-head of real estate capital markets at Salomon Brothers.

Also joining Chemical on the mortgage-backed securities side is John Gray. As vice president, Mr. Gray is responsible for whole loan sales and private placement of subordinate tranches of commercial mortgage-backed securities. He is the former co-head of Bear Stearns' commercial mortgage- backed conduit program.

The other five new executives are vice presidents:

*Quinn R. Barton 3d, manager of risk management.

*Ralph Menzano, head of technology.

*Janice Smith, head of servicing.

*Judith Hillas and F. Fuller O'Connor, origination officers.
