In Brief: Halis Group Buys Stake in Michigan Bank

WASHINGTON - A group led by New York investor Jeffrey Halis said it has acquired 6.5%, or 62,000 common shares, of SJS Bancorp in St. Joseph, Mich.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the group said it made the purchases on Feb. 15 and Feb. 16 at prices ranging from $10 to $11.09 a share.

The group said it acquired the stake for investment purposes.

Mr. Halis is the general partner of Halo Capital Partners.
