Short Takes: First Interstate Promotes VP to New Post As Liaison with

First Interstate Bank of California has moved one of its vice presidents into a new position as liaison to the Asian community for personal trust and private banking.

The executive, Mindy Ying, will act as the primary contact for Asian individuals and businesses seeking trust, investment management, and private client services.

A bank spokesman said the California institution has never before had a position of this sort or, indeed, a liaison for any ethnic group for personal trust and private banking.

In a press statement, the bank explained that Ms. Ying's position was created "in anticipation of the changing needs of California's diverse population."

Previously, Ms. Ying worked in sales in First Interstate Bank's institutional trust unit, the spokesman said. -Barton Crockett
