Committee Chairman Vows Review of SBA

WASHINGTON - Rep. Jan Meyers, new chairman of the House Small Business Committee, promised a "top-to-bottom review" of the Small Business Administration, including the agency's loan guarantee programs.

However, she made it clear she believes the loan program has been successful.

"Because of the low rate of losses, we can guarantee more than $8 billion a year in loans with an appropriation of under $200 million," she said. "So the money spent on the SBA is money well spent."
