BankAmerica Names Technology Czar for Illinois Operations

BankAmerica Corp. has appointed William H. Minihan Jr. chief information officer of its Illinois unit.

In his new position, Mr. Minihan, 48, manages corporate technology and cash management operations for BankAmerica's Midwest market.

Mr. Minihan comes to BankAmerica from the company's acquisition earlier this year of Continental Bank Corp. of Chicago. In his 25 years at Continental, Mr. Minihan spent much time in the trust area. He eventually rose to senior vice president of corporate technology and cash management.

In that job, he played a key role in striking one of the largest bank outsourcing agreements ever: Continental's $450 million deal with Integrated Systems Solutions Corp., a unit of International Business Machines Corp.

Mr. Minihan oversaw the analysis, vendor selection, and contract negotiations for that deal, which encompassed all of Continental's corporate information technology operations. He has managed the outsourcing relationship since the bank first struck the deal in 1991.

"Bill's strength throughout his career has been his ability to develop creative solutions to complex operational problems," said William M. Goodyear, chairman and chief executive officer of Bank of America Illinois.

Bank of America Illinois focuses on providing capital and financial management services to midsize businesses in the Midwest.
