Chase Names Chief Of Americas Sector

Chase Manhattan Corp. has hired an investment specialist who worked most recently in the Middle East to oversee portfolio managers in North and South America for its private bank.

The New York-based official, Kent L. Pietsch, reports to F. Daniel Prickett, the private bank's chief investment officer, and Marie Elena Lagomasino, who manages the private bank in the Americas.

The private bank sells banking, investing, trust, and related services to millionaires worldwide. It manages $66.7 billion of assets.

Mr. Pietsch oversees 32 portfolio managers, three-quarters of those employ ed by the private bank, a Chase spokeswoman said.

Immediately before coming to Chase, Mr. Pietsch was a senior adviser for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, a position he held since 1991. Previously he was chief investment officer in London for the asset management unit of the Bank of Tokyo.

Mr. Pietsch is a 1964 graduate of West Point and attended the London School of International Relations of the University of Southern California.
