Card Briefs: BACAS Users Can Access Fraud Evaluation Tool

PRINCETON, N.J. - National Information Bureau Ltd. said users of its BACAS credit verification and analysis system will have access to Fraud Detect, a customer evaluation tool available through the National Center for Fraud Analysis.

The National Center, based in Ambler, Pa., is a unit of the National Fraud Investigation Center, which supports lenders and law-enforcement agencies in crime investigations and prevention.

The Fraud Detect system performs algorithmic tests to assess the validity of data on loan applications. BACAS - the Business Analysis and Customer Approval System - was originally developed by Bell Atlantic and is designed to accelerate the closing of sales to the creditworthy.

"The cooperation between NIB and the National Center for Fraud Analysis provides BACAS users with the unique ability to detect consumer fraud before it occurs," said National Information Bureau president Harry Cutts.
