Former Rep. Flake Aide Joins CUNA as Lobbysit

WASHINGTON - Laricke D. Blanchard, a former banking aide to Rep. Floyd Flake, D-N.Y., has joined the Credit Union National Association as a lobbyist.

Mr. Blanchard will focus on briefing new members of Congress on credit union issues, according to the trade group. More generally, he also will be responsible for legislation affecting credit unions.

"The job of educating new members about credit unions is an important one for us because of the high turnover on the Hill, and because of the major issues facing credit unions in this year's session," said Charles O. Zuver, the trade group's chief lobbyist.

Mr. Blanchard had been assigned to the House Banking subcommittee on oversight, which Rep. Flake chaired in the last Congress. With the Republican takeover this year, most of the committee's Democratic staff positions were eliminated.
