Advanta Hires Marketer For New-Product Push

Looking to develop new card products, Advanta Corp. has chosen Devon Direct Marketing and Advertising Inc. to handle the direct marketing account of its Consumer Financial Services business unit.

The division is a leading issuer of credit cards, which the Horsham, Pa.-based company offers through its Delaware subsidiary, Colonial National Bank USA.

Consumer Financial Services provides about four million bank customers with MasterCard and Visa credit cards.

Advanta is not providing specifics on the targeted new products at this point, except to say that Devon Direct will provide "strategic support" in their development and marketing.

Ron Greene, Devon Direct's managing director, said the Berwyn, Pa.-based company would support Advanta's card marketing from every perspective, including customer acquisition, relationship management, statement communications, and branding.

Consumer Financial Services' most recent product is the Edvance credit card, which assists consumers in saving for their children's higher education by offering U.S. savings bonds in exchange for usage.
