Amex Planners Join Mountain Parks Units

American Express Financial Advisors, one of the nation's leading financial planning firms, has formed a partnership with Denver-based Mountain Parks Financial Corp.

Last week, American Express placed one financial planner in a Mountain Parks bank branch and will add more in the next month or two.

Mountain Parks, which has $275 million in assets, has nine community banking branches in central Colorado and Denver.

Minneapolis-based American Express Financial is trying to build similar alliances nationwide. The company offers financial planning through 65 banking and credit union companies.

The company's only other Colorado relationship is with Denver-based Vectra Banking Corp., which has 10 branches in Denver and surrounding suburbs.

In unrelated news, Lorna Allen Sorley has joined AIM Capital Management Inc. to evaluate and supervise the company's portfolio administration systems.

Ms. Sorley was previously chief financial officer at Northern Trust Bank of Texas in Houston.

She has worked for 25 years with various broker-dealers, banks, trust, and mutual fund companies.
