MARLBORO, Mass. - Stratus Computer Inc. announced that its Continuous Processing Systems and software will be used to allow credit and debit card purchases at 33,000 U.S. Postal Service offices in the United States and U.S. territories.

The credit/debit card purchase services being installed at selected post offices around the country this spring are being provided by Nabanco of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as subcontractor under NationsBank Corp.'s U.S. Postal Service contract.

Nabanco processes credit and debit card transactions for merchant customers through a network of Stratus fault-tolerant computers running Network Express multiprotocol middleware developed by Stratus subsidiary S2 Systems Inc. of Dallas.
