Cards Briefs: Visa Opens Office In Bangalore, India

SAN FRANCISCO - Visa International announced the opening of an office in Bangalore, India.

Visa selected Bangalore, capital of the southern Indian state of Karnataka, because it is near Visa member banks' card operations. The city also is the base for leading Indian information technology companies.

Visa described India as one of its high-growth markets. In 1994, card volume there grew 73%, while the number of cards grew by 45%, the association said.
