In Brief: Fla. Regulator Moves To Depolitize Post

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A task force that Florida Comptroller Bob Milligan appointed to advise him on decoupling his regulatory responsibilities for financial institutions from the elected position of comptroller will have its third meeting today.

Formation of the special task force furthers a campaign promise Mr. Milligan made as a reform candidate for the office of comptroller. He vowed that, if elected, he would take the politics out of financial regulation to the fullest possible extent.

The meeting will feature presentations by experts who will provide information to the task force on regulation of state banking, securities, and other financial services.
