Tandem Unit to Support Touch-Terminal System

SAN JOSE, Calif. - agreed to support Rieger & Milliken Corp.'s member-activated touch terminals for credit unions. The terminals, commonly known as MATTs, are designed to reduce the involvement of tellers in routine transactions. A customer using a MATT swipes a transaction card at the terminal and keys in a personal identification number. The terminal, which is equipped with a touch-sensitive screen, streamlines a variety of branch transactions, including account inquiries, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments. "MATT reduces and in some cases eliminates the requirement for tellers and member service personnel," said Ron Rieger, president of Rieger & Milliken, which is based in Newbury Park, Calif. The terminals can also be rigged to handle shared branch environments, which are becoming increasingly popular among credit unions.
