Short Takes: UBS Asset Management Gets a New Chief

to head its New York-based asset management subsidiary. Mr. Messmore succeeds J. Richard Zechner as president and chief executive officer of the $35 billion UBS Asset Management. Mr. Zechner was named chairman of the subsidiary. He had headed the unit since 1988 when it was a subsidiary of Chase Manhattan Corp. UBS acquired the asset management unit in 1991.
