In Brief: Corporates' Examiner Expected to Step Down

WASHINGTON - H. Allen Carver, the top corporate credit union examiner, plans to leave his position by August, according to regulatory and industry sources.

Mr. Carver is expected to return to his former post as director of the National Credit Union Administration's southeastern region in Atlanta.

Kent Buckham, deputy director of the NCUA's Office of Corporate Credit Unions, is expected to succeed Mr. Carver.

But Mr. Carver's move was not unexpected. When he took the job last July, NCUA Executive Director Karl Hoyle characterized it as an "extended detail" rather than a permanent assignment.

Mr. Carver had flirted with staying in Washington but decided to return to the Atlanta office for family reasons, sources said.

During his tenure, Mr. Carver has overseen the resolution of the failed Capital Corporate Federal Credit Union, drafted a regulation eliminating shared management between corporates, and improved the quality of corporate exams.
