In Brief: Swiss Bank Revamps Asset Management

Swiss Bank Corp.'s U.S. money manager is to take responsibility for all global investment strategy for the bank's institutional clients.

Next January, Gary P. Brinson will be named chief investment officer of the Basel-based banking company. He will then have a division named after him - SBC Brinson - which will be the bank's global institutional asset management group.

Mr. Brinson now runs Brinson Partners, a U.S. institutional investment firm acquired by Swiss Bank last year. Chicago-based Brinson has $53 billion under management, including a proprietary mutual fund family, the SwissKey Funds.

The reorganization also calls for the private banking group, which is currently part of a larger division, to operate separately under Ernst Balsinger in Basel.
