Card Briefs: Card Authorizing Tool Available for Windows

Tellan Software Inc. has introduced a Windows version of a system that does credit card authorizations on a personal computer.

The software, PC-Authorize, is based on a previous version for Macintosh computers, called MacAuthorize.

"It is ideal for mail-order houses or merchants who don't want the additional expense of stand-alone credit authorization terminals," said Tellan president Donald Neff. "It is also an inexpensive way for Internet merchants to authorize credit cards without all the inherent security concerns" because messages do not have to travel via the Internet.

PC-Authorize can handle all major card brands, private-label cards, check verifications, and a complete transaction set including sale, void, authorization posts, draft capture, and daily draft settlement.
