TRW Unit Offers Help with Lending In New Markets

TRW Business Information Services has created a unit to help banks expand small-business activities into new markets.

The unit's chief product will be TRW Intellisys, an information- gathering system for small-business underwriting. Five banks now use the system, which was rolled out in March, and seven institutions have orders pending.

The unit is staffed with 13 people specializing in consulting services, product sales, account integration, and software installation on a national - as opposed to a regional - level, said Tony Hegarty, who heads the Orange, Calif., unit.

"As geographic boundaries fall and banks move from regional to national operations, they're looking for a business partner that can serve them on a nationwide scale," said Mr. Hegarty, who was appointed to the post in January.
