In brief: Associates 1st Capital Names New President

Associates First Capital Corp. has named Harold D. Marshall president and chief operating officer.

The 35-year veteran of the consumer and commercial finance company will report to Keity W. Hughes, chairman and chief executive officer.

"This appointment gives us solid leadership in our day-to-day operations and allows us to sharpen our focus as a publicly traded corporation and a leading source of financing for consumers and businesses," said Mr. Hughes.

He also said the appointment would prepare the company for the retirement of Joseph M. McQuillan, vice chairman of consumer operations.

Mr. Marshall started with Associates in 1961 as a branch trainee. In 1974, he formed the company's transportation finance division, which is today the largest financier of big rigs.
