Capital Briefs: House Banking Panels Plan June Hearings

The House Banking Committee's schedule is about to swing into high gear, with four hearings slated this month.

The panel's domestic and international monetary policy subcommittee is to explore international issues surrounding the development of electronic money systems in a hearing next Tuesday. Mondex International chief executive Tim Jones is scheduled to testify.

The next day, the capital markets subcommittee is to hold a hearing on General Accounting Office and Congressional Budget Office studies of the Federal National Mortgage Association and Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp.

The financial institutions subcommittee is expected to hold a hearing June 19 exploring issues surrounding electronic benefits transfer.

Finally, June 26, Comptroller of the Currency Eugene A. Ludwig is to testify before the capital markets subcommittee on mutual fund sales practices.
