In brief: Fed Names Chairman of Consumer Group

Katherine McKee has been named chairman of the Federal Reserve Board's consumer advisory council.

Ms. McKee, associate director of the Center for Community Self-Help, Durham, N.C., was approved this month by the Fed governors to lead the group. She begins her one-year term as chairman at the council's first 1996 meeting, set for March 27 and 28 in Washington.

For the past year she has been council vice chairman under James West, president of the Jim West Financial Group, Tijeras, N.M. She is entering her third and final year on the council, which includes bankers, nonbank representatives, community activists, and journalists.
