HSBC Securities Inc. Names Executive

HSBC Securities Inc., New York, a unit of HSBC Holdings PLC, London, has hired J. Randall Burwell to head its medium-term note origination business.

He reports to Charles Hanbury-Williams, who heads debt capital markets.

Mr. Burwell had been manager of the fixed-income capital markets desk at Wertheim Schroder & Co. since 1991, responsible for developing its medium- term note business. He came there in 1989 from Nomura Sercurities Internationa, where he'd worked in bond sales.

His career, which started at Chase in 1971, included stints at Weeden & Co. and PainWebber Inc., where he headed fixed-income research and later managed new product development; and at Delata Investment Securities Inc.
