Money Market Assets Jump $5.01 Billion

Assets in money market mutual funds rose to $816.57 billion the week ending June 5, an increase of $5.01 billion over the previous week, according to the Investment Company Institute.

There were strong inflows into both retail money market funds, which gained $944.3 million, and institutional money market funds, which rose $4.01 billion.

Tax-exempt retail portfolios gained $2.64 billion for the week, to $107.24 billion. Taxable retail portfolios slipped $1.64 billion, ending the week at $460.92 billion.

On the institutional side, $2.28 billion flowed into taxable money market funds for the week, to $220.49 billion. Tax-exempt money funds recorded gains of $1.73 billion, reaching $27.91 billion.
