Fed Briefs: Ohio Bank Wins Permission for Acquisition

The Federal Reserve gave Croghan Bancshares, Fremont, Ohio, permission to acquire Union Bancshares, Bellevue, Ohio.

The Fed also approved the merger of the two subsidiary banks: Union Bank and Savings Co. and Croghan Colonial Bank.

The deal gives Croghan control of $287 million in deposits.

The Fed did note in its June 10 order that Croghan controls 41.7% of all deposits in the Fremont, Ohio, area. But it said 10 other lenders compete for business there.
