Tech Bytes: Checkfree, IA Corp. In Marketing Alliance

Checkfree Corp. and IA Corp. have struck a joint marketing agreement designed to promote electronic commerce products and services for wholesale banking.

The agreement, whose terms were not disclosed, allows the two software companies to round out their corporate banking applications with a "more complete suite of cash management products," said a Checkfree spokesman.

Initially, the agreement will focus on products that aid corporate account reconciliation, including check writing, balance reporting, and fraud control.

Checkfree, which is based in Columbus, Ohio, plans to package its Windows-based Infoview corporate cash management software with IA Corp.'s CheckVision document imaging technology. The combined package is already in use at SouthTrust in Birmingham, Ala.

Executives at Checkfree and Emeryville, Calif.-based IA Corp. said they plan to jointly market other banking applications, which they did not identify.

"It gives us a foundation on which we can co-develop other image-based services," Lynn Busing, Checkfree's executive vice president for corporate banking, said in a statement.
