Capital Briefs: Markup Continues Of House SBA Bill

The House Small Business Committee will meet this afternoon to continue marking up legislation restructuring the Small Business Administration's loan programs.

Scheduled for debate are provisions restricting who can become a certified lender, limiting who can participate in the LowDoc program, and giving lenders the right to securitize the nonguaranteed portion of an agency-backed loan.

The committee originally met July 10 to mark up the bill. But Rep. Jan Meyers, R-Kan., who leads the panel, postponed the proceedings after Rep. John LaFalce, D-N.Y., complained that he didn'thave time to study a 51-page amendment to the 57-page bill.
