Short Takes: Beverly Hills Bank Adds an Office in La Jolla

Beverly Hills-based City National Corp., which has approximately $7 billion under management and administration, has opened a private banking office in La Jolla, Calif.

City National, which already had retail and commercial banking customers in the wealthy San Diego suburb, started offering trust and investment management services there this month.

The La Jolla private banking operation is managed by senior vice president William Schriener. Before joining City National, Mr. Schriener worked in the private client services unit of the former First Interstate Bank of California, where he was a senior vice president in its La Jolla office. Wells Fargo & Co., which acquired First Interstate, maintains its office there.

Mr. Schriener will report to Vernon C. Kozlen, executive vice president and manager of City National Investments, who was his boss at First Interstate.
