Short Takes: SunTrust Private Bank Names 3 Senior VPs

SunTrust Banks Inc.'s private bank in Florida named three senior vice presidents.

The new executives at SunTrust Private Capital Group, the division of STI Capital Management that markets trust and investment services to wealthy individuals, are Robert J. Kline, Thomas A. Edgar, and Julio E. Castro 3d.

STI, based in Orlando, manages $11 billion in discretionary trust assets and is one of the managers of SunTrust's proprietary STI Classic Funds family, which has $7 billion in assets in 19 mutual funds.

Curtis Lyman Jr., president of STI Private Capital, said the additions would bring "technical and sales expertise that will continue to propel STI Private Capital to be a leader in this business."

Mr. Kline was most recently a vice president of NationsBank Corp., where he was a personal trust consultant in its Tampa office. At STI, he will assist in the design of complex estate planning strategies.

Mr. Edgar is moving over to the private capital group from the mutual fund family, where he managed mid-cap equity and capital growth stock funds. He will manage private portfolios.

Mr. Castro joins the group to develop new business. Most recently he practiced law at Trenan, Kemker, Scharf, Barkin, Frye, O'Neill & Mullis in Tampa. He had also worked as a tax accountant with Coopers & Lybrand.
